Skin Goal: reduce fine lines and wrinkles

Skin Goal: reduce fine lines and wrinkles

As we age our skin changes, from our 20’s to 40’s and beyond we notice the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. They tend to sneak up on us and all of a sudden we notice them in the mirror staring right back at us. It kind of feels like finding your first grey hair, panic sprinkled with the intense need to get rid of them. That’s where Cosmology Skincare comes in, we act as the superheroes for your skin, saving the day with highly active ingredients and elements to combat the dreaded crows feet, frown lines, forehead furrows and all other lady lines.

So what causes fine lines and wrinkles? Ageing for starters, which is unavoidable. As we get older our skin becomes thinner, drier and loses it’s elasticity and volume. It loses the ability to protect itself from the elements and free radicals, older skin doesn’t bounce back like younger skin does. Some of the biggest threats to our skin are UV rays, dehydration, smoking and alcohol. You can ditch the smoking and the excessive alcohol but it’s hard to avoid sunlight all the time. When our skin comes into contact with sunlight, it begins to break down the collagen and elastin in the skin, the fibres that support the skin. Have you ever wondered why we harp on about protection from the sun? There’s a reason! Ladies with a lighter skin tone, we’re especially talking to you. Due to the sun, thinner skin means less volume, more dullness, and more noticeable lines. Unfortunately, the constant movement in areas of the face also accelerate the appearance of fine lines; smiling, squinting and raising your eyebrows are the main expressions that cause this.

Never one to leave on a negative note, we’ve picked out the top 5 products to help you drastically reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fight the signs of ageing and get your glow back baby!

Hydrating Milk Cleanser

You can’t begin a good skincare routine without starting with a good cleanser. This luscious cream cleanser is filled with organic oils, calming properties, vitamins and anti-oxidants. It contains Chamomile Water which is soothing and calming on the skin but has enough muscle to remove makeup while working as a mild toner. No doubt you have heard of Rosehip Oil, and for good reason. We’ve included it in our Hydrating Milk Cleanser as it not only moisturises the skin but it gently exfoliates. It contains sun protection elements and collagen boosting properties. Jojoba Oil was the final inclusion, but not the least important. This oil helps to control the Sebum (oil) production of the skin. The soothing and moisturising from the Jojoba Oil sends a little message to your hair and sweat follicles, letting them know that you’ve got more then enough Sebum. This prevents the over production of oil which creates acne and blocked pores.

Active A Serum

Vitamin A is one of the most recommended ingredients when it comes to anti-ageing. It postpones the signs of ageing and also works to repair damaged skin cells, if untreated they can lead to loss of volume and elasticity. Vitamin A speeds up healing and improves the skin’s natural hydration process (remember dehydration is a key factor to accelerated ageing). This vitamin also interrupts the process that breaks down collagen, we need all the collagen we can get! Being an anti-oxidant, Vitamin A prevents sun damage by neutralising the free radicals. Our Active A serum also contains Niacinamide which is a form of B-3 that works to boost hydration and build the skin’s natural protein. The building of keratin protein keeps the skin strong, healthy and firm. Mature skin will benefit from the lipid barrier created by Niacinamide to lock in moisture. This ingredient also minimises redness, reduces pores, hyper-pigmentation, and acne. Hydrolysed Marine Collagen is an element that repairs collagen and the elastin protein fibres. It actively thickens the epidermis layer of the skin. Many studies have been conducted with people using Marine Collagen in which they noticed a significant decrease in the lines and wrinkles on their face, it’s a yes from us!

Resurfacing Serum

Ok we’re obsessed with this serum and it’s one you MUST try. It is potent and powerful in the fight against premature ageing. The combination of AHA and BHA acids exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells and clear your pores. This then stimulates the renewal of cells, which works to reduce pigment and give that healthy glow. AHA’s and BHA’s both work to create a more even skin tone, clearing old skin cells and making way for fresh more evenly coloured cells. Add in that magic ingredient, Niacinamide for protein, and some Hyaluronic Acid to boost skin hydration and you’ve got a unicorn serum. Only this time, it’s real.

Rejuvenating Eye Cream

This product contains the stand out ingredient, Liquid Crystals, you can actually see it in the cream! These crystals are your hydration mega station. They are beneficial for plumping the skin and reducing fine lines around the eyes. Liquid Crystals contain a mix of cholesterol derivatives designed to replenish your skin’s lipids. Lipid’s are the skin’s natural fat. They keep your skin hydrated and firm by retaining moisture while giving your skin the volume and glow you love, plus they regulate texture and tone. Yep, lipids are incredibly important. The Silk Extract in this eye cream contains Sericin and Fibroin. Sericin gives the skin a protective barrier and fuels hydration. Fibroin repairs the skin and also hydrates. Silk Extract has also been directly linked to collagen boosting. Our Rejuvenating Eye cream has all the anti-oxidants and natural ingredients needed to inhibit any further damage, restore the skin to a healthier state and give instant plumping.

UV Defense Moisturiser

Now we know this one doubles as a beautiful moisturiser but it’s crucial we include it in our list due to its defence against UV rays (probably the biggest cause of ageing). The outer layer of the skin naturally contains the essential mineral Zinc. Our UV Defense Moisturiser contains Zinc due to its’ ability to heal skin injuries and stabilise cell walls. Zinc acts like an anti-oxidant, perfect for fighting off free radicals like the sun. Another key element of our UV Defense Moisturiser is the inclusion of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). This ingredient is a mineral that protects the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. TiO2 scatters and absorbs the UV rays, preventing sun damage and premature ageing – sign us up! The ingredient is great for sensitive skin as it does not react with other ingredients and cause irritation. Again, Niacinamide makes an appearance for  being the protein hero it is!
