Also known as ascorbic acid, Vitamin C is an underrated ingredient in skincare, it’s the unsung hero, the quiet achiever of the group. This superstar ingredient protects the skin from so many elements and processes that contribute to premature aging. This is not an ingredient to be sneezed at and we feel it doesn’t get as much screen time as it should! It guards the skin from free radicals in the air caused by sun exposure and also promotes the production of collagen. That’s enough to get our attention.
So what types of skin care contain Vitamin C?
You’ll find Vitamin C in many moisturisers, serums and eye creams as it’s very versatile and highly active. It’s a main ingredient in our Active C Serum which works to brighten and firm the skin and with consistent use you can say goodbye to dark spots, dull complexions and fine lines. It even prevents future hyperpigmentation from raising its ugly head, it’s all about prevention people! But be sure to look after your products by sealing them properly after use, Vitamin C does not like to be exposed to oxygen or too much light, it will lose its’ strength.
It’s also important to know that not all Vitamin C based products are as strong or pure as others. Do your research and look for ones with a higher percentage of L-ascorbic Acid, between 10% and 20% is ideal. But we took it one step further with 25% in our Active A Serum. Not only are we kicking butt in the L-ascorbic Acid department but this serum also contains Peptides which are basically natural human growth magic – think repairing of damaged skin, healthy cell turnover and visibly firm skin.
